Thaw

I felt in the past it was easy for me to get lost in the “manufacturing of my work” I was more focused on how much I could make, rather than what I wanted to make. I was always rushing myself and often my work felt incomplete.

Last year I worked to slow down, and to give myself time to truly nurture my work. I aimed to put more intention into each piece. Rather than try to give it an allocated amount of time, I would let the piece tell me when it was done.

It was hard to unlearn the rushed and urgent mindset I had developed over the years, but I did my best, and was able to see my work change.

I’m so thankful for the shift yet I know that there is still a lot I need to improve upon.

Reflecting on the work that I have left over from 2024 I am proud to say it is a strong representation of the intentional shift I made. I can see it when I look at the details of my pieces and feel it when I hold a mug in my hands.

To honor this shift I am titling this body of work “thaw.”

With the changing of the seasons we are brought into something new, and I see this shift parallel with this work.

Winter brings us over into the new year, life goes dormant, resting while it waits for the sun to warm the ground again.

As the ground thaws soon seeds start to grow and eventually bloom. A plant grows on its own time, and I often look to nature for inspiration, so this year I will continue to strive for my work to be more like a plant. I will give it water, and sunlight and let it grow into what it’s meant to be on its own time.

Thank you for being here as I plant the seeds and the ground thaws. I hope you enjoy this collection and I can’t wait to grow some more.

A note on returns…

While I hope you love your piece, in the event that you must return it, a refund for the value of the piece will be awarded once the piece has been safely returned. I cannot refund shipping at this time. Thank you for understanding. Please contact me with any questions you have.
